Basic PHPNuke question

hiya,

i've gotten PHP Nuke running ona box here at home, and have been trying to edit one of the default templates to my liking... editing the pictures, and changing the color scheme.

It's all pretty straightforward (well, there's a bunch of trial and error), but i can't seem to find one of the most basic elements anywhere... i'm thinking it isn't there at all, and that's why i can't find it.

the page itself will be for my WoW guild, where we can schedule raid events etc. we have forums already, but this will be the kind of front splash page...

I've made a sample news topic here:

but i can't get that white section right below the main news posting to be anycolor other than white... i've changed table colors, border colors, text colors, everything but that main big white chunk.

every value i could find in the theme.php, and i even dug around in every other folder... can anyone please give me a hint?

i basically started with the default DeepBlue theme, so if you have phpnuke installed somewhere, you could look in that folder, or i've zipped the whole theme folder up (just in case) and upped it to my server as well...
