And use the cheapest dual core you can find, like the 4000+ X2 or something like that.

There are a number of programs that will play transport streans.

First off, HD transport streams are mpeg2 with AC3 audio. Depending upon how they were recorded, the transport stream may consist of the primary HD channel and any number of subchannels - or it could just be one single channel.

As an example, my local NBC affiliate broadcasts ""Weather Plus"" as a subchannel. If I wanted to record 'Sunday Night Football' in my setup I would have to verify the ball game as the primary record and disable recording the Weather Plus digital stream.

There are 2 reasons I pointed this out. There are converters that will 'breakout' the channels into individual program files in several different formats AND some players that would normally have no problem playing back a transport stream sometimes get a little confused with primary-subchannel streams.

That said - newer versions of Power DVD will play transport streams. I think Cyberlink with charge you $20 for the AC3 codec to enable 5.1 audio. My Fusion ATSC tuner card also provides a player - in addition to a conversion program.

I've gotten Media Player to play the streams but the audio is screwed up - maybe I'll fix that if possible :D

You could also try the VLC Media Player

If I haven't confused you enough, you could also use a converter to create VOB files and burn them to a DVD . . . . .
