Basic home gym workout

Can anyone recommend what i would need to do some workouts at home. Local gym is getting disgusting with people leaving pools of dna around. Don't have room or want a bowflex.

Was thinking of getting this to start:

Valeo Ab Wheel
Perfect V2 Pushup Bar

Dumbbells and a bench don't take up much room and you can pretty much get a full body workout with them. You can find fold flat benches that you can store under a couch or in a closet when you're not using them.

judging by your own recommendations, i'd say get a pullup bar and leave it at that.

Nothing wrong w/ those items- though adding a pull up bar is a good idea- maybe some resistance bands if you can't get some dumbbells.

Planning to ignore your legs, or do you have a plan for that? For upper body the resistance bands, and a pull up bar or a set of rings would round things out for you. If you are looking to gain strength, you will want to put something heavy in a backpack for doing push ups down the road.

You don't even need a bench. You can still do squats, deadlifts, shoulder presses and rows with just a set of dumbells which will give you a great workout.

My personal preference would be an olympic bar and weights.

Bench is nice to have though, dedicated piece of furniture for doing half the things you mentioned and you can get in a good chest workout with it as well.

OK, let's get to basics.

1) What is your budget?
2) What are your goals (weight loss, strength, running)?

FWIW: Buy a used 300 pound Olympic weight set on craigslist for $150 or so. Sell it some day for $150 or so. Not really a cost. More of a cash equivalent that you can use.

I agree but OP made it sound like he didn't have room for a bench. I would definitely recommend adding a bench if possible though I'm not sure which of the exercises I listed would require a bench.

EDIT: unless you meant a bench with a rack which is most likely the case.

You don't need a bench for them, but having one to sit on or kneel over when doing shoulder presses or rows is nice rather then using a kitchen or dining room chair. That's what I would use when I was in a place without much room and couldn't make it to the gym that day. One piece of furniture you don't mind getting sweaty and you spray it down, wipe it off and put it away when you're done.

I personally have this chin bar that #Cappuccino suggested, and I have to suggest it too. It's the perfect tool for the back and in general. And it's cheap too.

Easy.

3 Rounds For time:
21 Release hand pushups
21 Burpees
21 Rowers

For Time:
100 Burpees

5 rounds for time:
12 handstand pushups
400m run with 35lb vest (if you have one)
16 jumping squats

I have MMA mats in my workout area, do the BAS RUTEN workouts, just combine like 2-4 difficult exercises.
