Simple example: I walked into the kitchen at my parents' house the other day and the photo album was open, they even turned the TV off. My mom left the page open with pictures of my birth, residual tears still running down her face (it was humid).
Few years back I was talking to my dad about health insurance and how the premiums were higher for me than my parents claimed. He said "Well son, the insurance company knows that if you've gone this long without an "incident", you're due." I argued no, that's not the case, and pointed out that I was like anyone else, at least most times, it's still 50/50 odds on the average day. He told me 'no', you are more likely to have an "incident".
I always wondered what he meant by these seemingly straightforward but odd explanations. The truth seemed to elude me for whatever reason.
Another look at those pictures and my mother's tears, and I knew. I was personally damaged by the Dr.'s forceps during my birth. At first I didn't understand, but now it all makes sense. i.e. that indentation in a certain area of my skull, the learning disabilities of my childhood and a reduced earning potential for the rest of my entire gross life will never cease.
Anyone else have examples?
