If you check accessories, you'll see the 1394 bracket that plugs into the board.

One of the reasons I went with the ASUS P5K-E series was because it offered a FireWire port and two additional USB ports on the back panel - no PCI brackets or additional cabling required. Not that i'm trying to change your mind. The ABIT board is solid and I was strongly considering it as well.

Thanks o1die, I missed the accessory bracket.

jd, I liked the eSata being on the back panel. But I may get the IX38 instead because I think it has both the eSata and Firewire on the back panel.

be careful when pluggin in external firewire drives in windows, if you don't eject correctly, your drive will corrupt.
