basic DDR3 1800 or fast DDR3 1600?

Building with a GIGABYTE GA-X48-DS4, should I go for a basic version of DDR3 1800 or a higher quality similarly priced DDR3 1600( for example: OCZ Gold DDR3 1800 or OCZ Platinum DDR3 1600)?

if its similarly priced then buy the all singing all dancing with a nice heatspreader on, if the higher quality stuff is dearer then dont bother.

Nope, not really. Not enough to justify the cost at any rate. You might gain an extra frame per second or two at the most.
