Basic camera for use with Premiere Elements 8

I was planning to use a simple Flip Mino camera for some basic video editting for my kids, but it turns out that the codec used in the Flip cams is rather exotic and requires several processing steps to make compatible with Premiere.

Does anyone have experience with, or a suggestion for a cam that would be fairly cheap (around $200 would be best), based on media card storage, and compatible with PE8 right out of the box?
