I'm thinking about building a new comp.

Currently I have a Abit IN73-HD uATX board, E21?0 OC'd via FSB to 3.0GHz stock voltage/stock cooler, reused the case from an ooooold AMD Sempron Compaq computer, along with most of its original parts. 2x1GB RAM, vid is still via onboard GeForce 7100.

Well the time has come for the kids to get their own computer, and I'll be handing this one down to them.. albeit not OC'd..

So I am starting to think of my new system.

I kinda like AMD this time around, but really I'd go with whatever has the best bang for the buck.

I want to use a "cheap" cpu as this Pentium e-whatever it is really has worked well, but I've always sorta preferred AMD until they started getting their ass handed to them. (think way way back before the core2's came around)

So? Which way shall I go this time? I don't game really, it'd only be race car driver grid and some need for speed games. I'll be needing on board vid for the time being and will buy a dedicated card at a later date.

My wife will be doing school work on it and hopefully so will I soon enough, and I intend on using it as a HTPC in my bedroom, but probably only at 720P.. no room for a huge TV in here.

I'm sort of inclined just to duplicate this system again since it works well for me, but I'm sure I could do better.

I think I'll be running 64 bit Win7. I'd like to spend around $100 per major piece.. I do intend on overclocking. United States. I'm really only concerend about the MB and CPU right now.
