Why are they planning to implement this tax? Why wont they simply refuse to pay those astronomical salaries?

if they do strike,it could be a looooong time before they play anymore baseball

i was listening to a radio sports show last night and some former manager during the '94 strike said the owners feel like they gave in too easily during the other labor disputes, made it sound like if a strike happens, the owners will let it go for 1-3 YEARS :(

Guys, ever hear of a guy called Adam Smith? The owners are doing something very unlawful with their huge tax that they claim is to help competitve balance. When the anti-trust exemption is removed and free market is allowed, that is when the true villians will be crushed.

that is an excellent point, congress needs to get involved and get rid of that, ther is NO reason for that in today's environment, baseball is a coporate business just like any other

time to write the old congressman

several teams will not survive a strike, stadiums will go under foreclosure, and I dont know if baseball as a whole will survive another strike... remember what happened after 94's strike? Ratings and attendence were absolute garbage for 2 years... I know I'm sick of it, I dont really care their reasoning behind the strike. I make 40k a year and they're complaining about there 2 million? screw them.

Goodbye and good riddance. Any "sport" in which a fat disgusting slob like Roger Clemens is considered an athlete needs to die.

this is what i don't get... the day after this college football season gets into full swing, then the NFL kicks off... football has such a hold on this country (the players don't have it anywhere near as good as baseball ones do, but the NFL is run far more like one single corporation rather than a bunch of businesses squabbling over everything) that no one is going to care

all of this strike talk alone has really hurt baseball..i dont listen to sports radio anymore or follow it now that the Mets are out of it, because I dont want to hear about this strike anymore...even the talk about it is hurting the game a lot

I laughed when I read that. Michigan kicks off at Noon on the 31st, so I would be just fine with that date. :D

I honestly don't think that there will be a strike.

Good timing, with the little league world series getting so much attention, I hope people start to realize that MLB is full of whiney bitches. Seeing kids play for the fun of it is so refreshing :)
