Baseball Steroid Suspension

Argo

I couldn't find any threads on that so I'll start one. Does anyone else feel the suspension of Alex Sanchez looks suspicious? I'm not big on conspiracy theories, but this was the best case scenario for MLB. They needed to suspend somebody to prove that the policy works but in doing so they needed:

1) Somebody who's from a small market team
2) Somebody who isn't a big star
3) Somebody who isn't a slugger

Hmm, Alex Sanchez seems like a perfect fit for MLB.

it could just mean the test isn't 100% accurate (false positives)... and that his non-steroid supplements did come up positive for steroids... just a thought.

I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist either but there were reports of players grumbling that they're going to make exaples out of little guys to make it seem like the policy is working. A few ESPN articles made some specific blurbs about this recently. I woulnd't put anything pass baseball at this point.

i'd prefer if they had a zero-tolerance policy and that it was enforced equally on everyone.

You can't have 0 tolerance because the test isn't bullet proof. You can get a false positive. Also, as absurd as it sounds a player might take something without knowing it contained steroids, like a prescription or etc.

then perhaps the efforts should go into researching a better test.
