Baseball- LA Angels???

California Angels became Anaheim Angels, new owner wants to appeal to a broader fanbase (Los Angeles) so he changed the name to Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim...

The Anaheim Angels (formerly the California Angels) decided that they wanted to change their name to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. I think it had something to do with identifying the team with LA instead of Anaheim. The LA Dodgers are still there.

I hate it hate it hate it hate it. Now all the stupid broadcasters have to call them the L.A. Angels. It takes a fvcking hour to drive from L.A. to Anaheim :|

They are in Anaheim, which is south of LA in Orange County. They just decided that adding Los Angeles to their name would be a good thing...which is not.

Wow, I can't believe I never realized that before. You're right. Another reason to add to the list of why it was one of the dumbest front office moves of this offseason.

It would be like the Washington Nationals calling themselves the Baltimore Nationals when they're really 30 miles south & in Washington. Just that the owner wants to steal some of the fans from the Dodgers & appeal more to people in Los Angeles... but he's getting a lot of flack for it.
