baseball has too many statisticians...

No Lifer
They put up this graphic about Jose Reyes and Victor Diaz being a rare combination of players.. under-23 years old and both homering twice in a single game. WTF ?! They pull this kind of stuff out of their @$$es... I don't think anybody really cares about 1/4 of the stats they keep.

that's a derived stat that was the result of a database inquiry, not an actual kept stat

and you're a toolbox

why am I a toolbox ?

And this isn't the first time I've been amazed at the crap they care about ... they've got stats for everything in baseball. I don't care if they had to call up ELIAS Sports Bureau to cross-reference some papers in the 1920s... who really gives a flying fvck about 2 kids homering twice in the same game ? And I'm a Met fan.

heh i feel like i know nothing aboutbaseball when the announcers are like "and of course no one's pinch hit two home rune duggies under a blue moon during the month of septaugust while fighting in war." and i'm like "ERRR?!!?"

maybe you shouldn't watch it then

they keep track of that crap because the game is so god damn boring that it is the only thing keeping them from putting a .45 to their head.

I agree.

Baseball is very fun to play, though. Statistics are lame.

reason enough 😛

hrmm.. audi, that's the greatest advice ever. I simply express what it feels like sometimes when the announcers pull out obscure factoids and clearly the solution is to not watch. Thanks! [/sarcasm]
