Baseball Hall of Fame... should they be in?

deftron

Pete Rose - bet on baseball as a manager (not as a player)

Raphael Palmero - took steroids as a player

I think Rose should be in , Raph's out

I don't think Rose or Raphie deserve to be in the hall. Rose only came public and admitted so he could make money off of the book he was coming out with. Raphie cheated and lied under oath.

Both in. If guys like Gaylord Perry and Ty Cobb can make it, then Palmeiro and Rose should not be faulted for their mistakes

I'm really not a spelling nazi, honest, but you spelled Palmeiro's name very wrong.

I forgot one i ... how "very" wrong

Your original spellings:

Raphael Palmero
Raphael Ralmero

Correct spelling:

Rafael Palmeiro

Part of Pete Rose's bargains was a LIFETIME ban from baseball and that includes the hall of fame. Of course it did stipulate that it could be readdressed at a later date, but still, he LIED about it and conintued to lie about it, until telling the truth gave him an opportunity to make money (book). That's disgraceful.

What I think they should do with Pete Rose, is say okay you are in the hall of fame, but you can NEVER be associated with the game again... in ANY capacity

i agree with you.

sidenote: if you haven't visited the Baseball Hall of Fame - do! Cooperstown, NY is a great place to hit.

Charlie Hustle, absolutely. He bet on a game. He's come clean about it, even if it took him 10 or 15 years. He certainly earned induction.
Palmeiro, I voted yes but I'm on the fence on performance enhancement.
They say Raphael's test cannot be a false positive and denied a retest. That's pure bullshyt.
There's still plenty of room for wiggle in the "I have never knowingly taken a steroid".
I'm sure there's plenty of other substances that would throw up a positive, and if a trainer uses a wrong topical for a rubdown, there you are.
I think the whole argument is bullshyt. If a guy is stupid enough to ruin his health with performance enhancers, so be it.
It doesn't dilute his accomplishments. If anything it strenghthens an argument for induction. "This man gave his LIFE for baseball".

As far as I am concerned, Pete Rose's disgrace should go with him into eternity.

As far as Palmeiro is concerned. I hate that he did steroids, but THEY ALL did steroids - at least in the last 15 years or so. Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, etc... these guys were all juicing and if one goes, they should all go.

If MLB wants to get serious about banning roids, banning Palmeiro or better yet Bonds would send a clear clear clear clear message. Did I mention it would be a clear message?

Anyone else hear that homeruns are down by ~1000 this year since every started getting caught?
