Crap. That's about the period that I collected baseball cards, too. 🙁

My Bonds Topps/Fleer and Griffey Upper Deck rookie cards have to be worth *something*.

that 1990 griffey you should have sold back in 1995. right now it can be had for a measly 3.00

Are you sure you know how to read pricing guides correctly?

The card actually goes for close to $100 in mint condition.

PSA graded mint.

the sealed factory set is selling for 89.99

Which begs me to ask again, are you reading the price guide correctly in conjunction with the cards? The 1989 UD sealed factory set sells for for well over $89.99. His rookie card was NOT in the 1990 set, but in the 1989 set.

I am owned and so are you.

<--- wonders how BigJ is owned ...

I was owned because I was looking up the wrong year and he was owned because it didnt make a difference in the prices

<--- still fails to see how BigJ is owned since there isn't 1 sealed factory set on the link you provided.

EDIT: well I see 1, but its still $40 more than $89 😛
EDIT2: okay now i'm owned myself because I was just blind before and saw the one sealed for $89 as well.

<-- goes and hides in a corner.

now give me that don mattingly rookie!

The factory sets on that site alone are selling from $129 to $200+. So over 40% higher than what you listed isn't well over?

Only 1 seller is selling it for $89.99. If we took extremes, than I could say Xbox 360s sell for over $3,000 on Ebay, which would be misleading.

$70? I thought factory sealed sets were like $30.

I could sell a cup of my urine on craigs list for 8 million dollars. This does not give it that much value. Value is determined by what someone will pay for something. The market has set the range for that set from $89.99 on up. just admit you were owned a little bit for trying to be an a$$ for no reason with your "you dont know how to read price guides" condescending sh1t.

Apparently, not only do you not know how to read price guides and cards, but you don't know how to quote properly either.

And it wasn't condescending. Most people do not know how to read baseball card price guides or the cards if they aren't all familiar with collecting. It's not as simple as looking at a year on the card in many cases.

umm whatever i was getting rid of the nested quotes cuz it was getting out of hand. you know what the flow of the convo was.

the guides are a just that a guide. The value of something is much different.

you can buy the set right now today for 80.00 bucks.......therefore thats its value.

Great, now we're getting into semantics about what value is.

Some people will sell it for only $80, and people will buy it. Other people will sell it for $120-$200, and people will buy it.

So what's the value then?

And where in that description does it say sealed?

yeah cuz you said i was wrong when i wasnt. end of story.

beckett magazine killed the card business. anything made in the 80's and up is almost worthless. Thank God I sold everything except my 50's 60's 70's cards.

Since we're arguing semantics, I never said you were wrong, just that you weren't looking at the correct set and reading the price guide incorrectly, based on your previous post of saying KG Jr's rookie card was from 1990 and worth $3.

I was wrong about that and thats why I was owned and admitted it. your never gonna believe you were mistaken so whatever this so f-ing rediculous at this point we are bickering over worthless baseball cards that i dont think either of us even have.....like a bad episode of seinfeld.
