baseball cards

gigapet

Lifer
just looked up some prices of some cards I had collected 10-15 years ago when i was a kid.

none of them are worth anything.

🙁

all I know is I have a Barry Bonds rookie card (Donruss set) as well as a Mark McGwire rookie card where he's on the USA team in the picture on the card. I think those may be worth something pretty decent.

i have a buncha other crap, but like you said, it's not worth much. about 4 years after I started collecting is when they started to have like 15 brands or cards/year which started to make the value of cards go down dramatically. When I first started it was just like Topps, Donruss, and Fleer. Then they came w/upper deck, fleer ultra, topps stadium club, etc, etc...

The late 80s to early 90s were a period where the market was just absolutely flooded.

However, mid to early 80s and the period in the 90s where the started offering what I call premium cards (Limited Edition Runs, stuff that was much more rare) is where you'll find the more valuable cards in the past 25 years.

My gem is still my Eddie Murray rookie card. He wasn't the best player, and it's not worth all that much, but I loved watching him play for the Mets.

i still have my 1984 don mattingly topps rookie card in those thick plastic holders with the screws in the corners on dispaly on my book shelf next to my ricky henderson signed photo where he is holding up the second base at yankee stadium when he broke the record.

i have some baseball & hockey cards in the basement. i should check the values.

i know my comics aren't worth crap, except maybe a few.

comics may be worth more down the line as I suspect since they are much more a hassle to store than cards that many ppl will ditch them in the coming years

Are you sure you know how to read pricing guides correctly?

The card actually goes for close to $100 in mint condition.

Which begs me to ask again, are you reading the price guide correctly in conjunction with the cards? The 1989 UD sealed factory set sells for for well over $89.99. His rookie card was NOT in the 1990 set, but in the 1989 set.
