Baseball card collectors

I was just going through my old card collection and found this card that I had totally forgotten about. Just curious on the price. Low & High/Beckett. I know the price is not in the normal price guide but it should be in the Big Book of Beckett, not sure.

The card is:
2000 Fleer EX
Roger Clemens
Essential Credentials NOW #7 of 20

I thank ya' kindly 🙂

Last time I checked back in 2000, it was like $250.00
You guys sure you're looking at the right card? **LOL**

It's the insert card numbered #7 of 20

I doubt it is still worth that much. The price of cards has bottomed out. Any card worth any money in 1995-2000 is pretty much only worth a few bucks now.

Card companies hurt themselves by oversaturating the market with inserts/special editions/etc. Now, everything is a special edition (which doesn't really make them special at all).

Checking eBay for recently ended auctions should give you an idea. It's probably a lot less than you think.

It's worth diddly.

OOPS. The link is for the 2002 card.

Sorry. It's worth diddly.

That's a 2002 card.

The problem nowadays is that your cards are worthless unless you get the professionally graded.

Of course getting them graded costs $ but if your card is in absolute perfect condition, it can be worth 10-20x what it is normally.

I have over 100,000 cards (some really good ones too) all the way back from 1986 when I started collecting. The cards that I used to be worth a lot have dropped considerably and only getting them graded would make them even possible to sell.

I was so stupid back then thinking if I held onto the cards long enough, they would be worth a fortune like old old cards were (i'm talking 1950's). Oh well, they are now just collecting dust heh.

honkey is right but the two biggest problems were the mass production of cards in the late 80s and 90s and the internet. both those factors killed the value of modern cards. best thing to do now is hold on to them until they are 40 to 60 years old and they will regain their value with time.

Sounds like those schools that have sports where all of the teams win.

I was thinking that I ought to get my Jerry Rice rookie card graded, but it looks like even the graded ones are not going for that much on eBay. I don't know much about the company that did the grading though, and if there are more reputable companies out there.

The whole sports card collecting hobby has gone down the drain. The only valuable ones now are the rare limited ones that you can only find in packs of cards that cost $150 a piece.

Same with the comic book industry, the only ones worth anything are certain silver and golden age comics.

That's why I stopped collecting. It just got crazy when paying $10.00+ for 3card pack BS! I still collect cards but only singles and only Nolan Ryan graded PSA 9 or greater. (1980 and lower)

So, no one has a price for me? I know it's listed somewhere. All the prices I've seen so far above are either........ Not right, wrong year or you're looking up the wrong card.

The action figure industry is soon to follow. They're doing exactly what the sports card and comic book industries did, oversaturating the market.

I don't know about that one. There are some comics that are being published that do have a decent value from the get go. They mainly seem to come from DC Comics nowadays in terms of ones that are not oversaturated. Cases in point on the Batman: H.U.S.H series and the Identity Crisis series of comic books. Both have decent value now and probably will continue to in the future. Sure they're not super high value but at least they have a good starting point.
