Money grab:
The postseason — a lucrative revenue source for owners — would expand to 14 teams, from 10, with two additional wild cards in each league. The team with the best record in each league would earn a spot in the division series, while the wild cards and other division winners would stage best-of-three series to determine the rest of the division-series field.

Will it turn into college football where any team with a 50% winrate gets a Bowl appearance?

Eventually, yes. All major sports continue to add teams to the playoffs, none ever shrink the playoffs. This is a great opportunity for them to shove more mediocre teams into the mix and then keep it that way for the next full season. They've been hoping to do that for years, this opened the door.

I have not missed baseball, basketball or hockey one little bit. I'd miss football if that was shut down.

now theres no diff between AL and NL.
useless in using those names now just like afc and nfc in football.

that's how every sport works though, except for baseball

it's so bizarre to have different rules depending on which stadium you're playing in
