I am applying for the Functional Validation Engineer internship, but it's asking for a "base salary range". I can't leave it blank or put negotiable. It's a full-time summer internship, probably 3-4 months at Fort Collins, CO. What would be a reasonable range?

Engineering internships have wildly varying pay scales. I was paid about 2/3 of my fulltime salary. I doubt they'll even look at what you write down. To be safe, I wouldn't put more than 50% of what you expect fulltime, but with a big company you'd probably be okay putting more down.

Yeah, if it's a big company you're on a set payscale and I doubt what you put down will effect your actual pay. Just put a reasonable number that isn't so high they think you're entitled and full of yourself.

If i have said it once i have said a million times:

DO NOT TELL THEM ANYTHING. All you expect is a competitive salary. Tell them that. If you have another offer that is as interesting and pays more, *then* you can tell them. HR people are, well, paid to get talent for cheap. If you think the HR chick is hot and you may get in her pants for accepting a low offer, thats another whole set of negotiations. Nonetheless, just dont tell them anything if you dont have other offers. Period.

12-25/hr depending on experience & year. But it doesn't matter since they pay you whatever their formula tells them to, higher or lower.
