Barton2500+ and SLK900U, temps kinda high?

Got a Barton2500+ and an SLK900-U w/ 92mm Tornado @ 50%, my temps are 55C Full Load. Is that rather high? My Vcore is at 1.93 (1.9v actual). Temps are taking from the Winbond Hardware Doctor, as well as the BIOS.

My only comparision is my older athlon system, a 2100+ Tbred B @ 1.8vCore, with an Alpha PAL 8045. Fan was pushing about 50CFM. That ran at 45C full load.

I know the AS3 has yet to settle, so temps are expected to drop. But I would expect this thing to be at most, 45C full load even with the extra voltage.

Perhaps my fan running at 50% is causing such an increase in temps? Could I have messed up the installation somewhere?
 
1.9V may be the cause. That temp is WELL within specs for the chip. 70C is the danger zone.
 
I thought the Abit's hardware monitor's weren't that accurate. I'm in the process of putting together another Barton 2500+ rig with the SLK900U and ABit NF7-S Rev 2.0 myself Hopefully its just the hardware monitor thats not reading properly.
 
My ABIT NF&-S 2.0 with the latest 1.8 BIOS shows temps approx 6-7C higher than they should be so should be taken with a pinch of salt. And a heatsink is only as good as your ambient temps no matter how beefy it is. 🙂
 
Seems high to me, unless you have poor case ventilation. My 2500+ @ 1.85v (1.82v actual) ran about 55C full load with an 8045 and a 50cfm Sunon @ 7v. How warm is your room?
 
All mobos read differently. Remember temperatures on motherboards aren't measured, they're calculated. Different companies use different formulas and such. For reference. My Asus used to tell me that my chip was 40C idle and 52C load. Now it's more like 50C idle and 59C load. Temps vary greatly between boards.
 
The SLK base might need lapping. When I installed mine, I did notice some nasty machining marks, and compared to some rigs I've seen using a Tornado, mine needs improving. Ive seen a 2400+ run at 24*C idle with an SLK900 and 92mm Tornado, so.. :frown:
 
Even a heatsink with machining marks like my 8045 should still cool adequately if it is FLAT. You might consider taking a ruler or piece of glass to see if your heatsink is flat.
