barton question

hi, I currently have athlon xp 2500 barton and about to do some upgrading.
i have 1.5GB PC2700 DDR333 of RAM running on ASUS A7N8X Deluxe, so I'm not thinking abt to replace it.
I need some advice from all the expert here. I heard that running axp with different memory speed will degrade performance.
but to think of it, which one will be faster among the two procs when paired with my pc2700?

Barton 3200 (2.20Ghz/400FSB)
Barton 3000 (2.16Ghz/333FSB)

any advice would be highly appreciated.

thanks 😉

does that mean that the 3000 will be faster than 3200? cant the additional 40Mhz speed advantage that 3200 has cover the speed loss due to fsb/memory difference?

Maybe, maybe not, depends on app, and so forth, but have you tried overclocking the RAM? Maybe it can run at 400 with relaxed timings?

I had both a 2500 and a 3200 and I noticed very little difference in speeds. I wouldn't waste your money on upgrading to either processor. Save your money and get an A64, that's where the future is at.

Just like justinian says... and have u tried to o/c the 2500 ? i think it can go the same speed as the 3000+ or even 3200+
