I want to know if I update the bios my Abit KX7-333R will the mobo support Barton CPU? I had to put a 2600XP on it. On Abit's website it stated that the board only support 200/266 and the Barton is 333.

Thanks

Nope, it only supports 133fsb. But you can likely jack up the multiplier to get the additional performance inherent in your processor.

Supposedly theres a certain revision for it... 1.1 i think but i'm not sure. If you have 1.0... you can RMA it to Abit. The Abit forums has more info on it.

Um, nope - it will work. Most KT333 (KX7-333R included) boards have a 1/5th divider kick in @ 166fsb, enabling you to run 166fsb without having the pci/agp bus way out of spec. My friend is using a 2500+ in his KX7-333R, and although it doesn't recognize the name of it as a "barton", it works just peachy.

Yes ,,, it will ,,, you dont need to update the BIOS for it
(you need to unlock it thou if you want multi other than 11... unless you have a locked one (only 11 multi))

Just make sure you have proper cooling for the NB
(if you havent checked already)
Look at the AMD.com forums for info ... (search Abit forum)

I had my barton in my KX7-333

was running 11.5 x 189.9 ....

But ,,, I have my XP2600 in it right now ...

at 12 x 189.9 with 1.8v

yes I've used the KXR-333 before and it does support 166FSB with all the correct dividers
