So is Barton supposed to be released in Jan. or is it later. I tried to check the AMD roadmap, but it was offline. If someone could please tell me a little more info, that would be great.

I think around that time they will release the 3000+ and 3200+ with a 400MHz FSB and 512KB L2 Cache.

Are they planning on moving to a 400MHz FSB? That would be GREAT, but judging by the time it took them to move to 333MHz FSB, I highly doubt it.

Well Anand's article from Comdex claims it'll have a 400MHz FSB, and I'm assuming he had some information directly from AMD to so directly proclaim it.

There might also be both 266- and 333-based Bartons. My understanding was that the 266MHz-based ones would give an upgrade path to the owners of 760MPX boards (BartonMP, so to speak). But I'm all for 400MHz-based ones, too.

Yes, AMDZONE.com also stated that they heard the Barton will be a 400Mhz bus processor.

Will this be an issue for people with 266 or 333 motherboards? And will the NFORCE2 be able to run a 400mhz Barton (heh and still be able to overclock?)?

wow amd is sure climbing those fsb speeds fast. It was just over a month ago when 333 came out and in 2 months we'll get 400? Nice amd. Way to keep up the pace.

eh, it finally looks like AMD is on some sort of offense...or maybe just attempting to establish a defense, hehe. After all the time of being raped, they are starting to pick up the pase and should be catching up to intel, at least more so than what they have been for the last 9 months or so.

Pretty Interesting, "Athens" and "San Diego" must be the K9. The Barton will have the highest cache on a desktop CPU, 640KB total until the Prescott comes in.

If they push out 400MHz FSB Barton's I expect they'll establish the high end supported by nForce2 and KT400A, I'm doubting they'll bother with 333MHz FSB except on the older Throughbred. AthlonMP based Barton's on the 266MHz FSB I think is highly likely if the market requires them, which I'd say has a good chance of happening assuming the Barton is on time.
