Barton 2500+ - Running @ 3200+

Well I'm pretty damn happy with the way this things working. I installed the new Barton 2500+ on my new mobo (Asus A7N8X), and have it running @ 200x11 right now, for about 3200+ speeds.

Thing I want to know is, I tried running the thing @ 200x12 and 12.5, but it never booted, so I reset the CMOS and started over, I have it running @ 1.65VCore.

The question: What VCore setting should I have it set to, to try and run the 2500+ with the 12.5 or 12 Frequency multipliers?

hey mine at 2200 still says 3000+ 😛

edit: how good's your hsf/psu? just raise the vcore to like 1.9v or something 😀

I've got a SLK-800 heatsink paired with a Y.S. Tech 74mm TMD Fan, and the PSU is brand new, an Enermax Whisper 430W.

<edit> I tried boosting the VCore to 1.875V, and have 200x12.5 and 12, but again it didn't boot. =/

sorry to burst the bubble but 2200mhz is not a 3200+....If 3000+ is 2.167ghz then to be a 3200+ barton you would need to be 2.33ghz, right????

Well WCPUID compares it to a 3200+, and in the BIOS boot-up it says Athlon 3200+...but other than that, meh...

You can see where I am coming from, right??? confirmed that the barton is 2.167ghz at 3000+....I can't see how 2.2ghz would be 3200+....I think the 400fsb is probably close to that but trust me wcpuid doens't take that in account...

Sounds like you've had the same sort of results as me... have you tried going over a 200 Mhz FSB? I'm running mine at 221 Mhz right now

You can't be a scaredy cat and achieve good overclocks! 1.65v is simply not high enough to get very far, I'm at 1.875v Vcore and 1.94v Vchipset on a 1700+ running at 10x230. Sandra says its a 3500+ if that matters.

😀I've got mine running at 190x12.5 @1.85 vcore. That's 2.38GHz!! Under load it's only at 32c, w/ a slk-800. If I could get more vcore I could go higher, Is there a volt mod for the A7N8X? CRANK THAT BITCH UP!!!!!

That's the thing, I'm getting "proper" RAM, rather than this PC2700 no-name crap I got in there now.

Hrrm...guess this is as high as I should go.

11.5x200 @ 1.65VCore = no windows boot
11.5x200 @ 1.7VCore = restart just before completing Windows boot
11.5x200 @ 1.675VCore = IRQ_NOT_EQUAL thinger,

Still, a 2.2GHz 2500+ for $203CND isn't bad at all, considering the new 3200+ at pricewatch.com runs for 400+USD and IS 2.2GHz, give or take. 🙂
