Barton 2500 (retail) heatsink question

My Barton XP 2500 processor and heatsink arrived today. (retail version) The instructions on the heat sink say to remove the plastic tape from the bottom of the heat sink. Mine came with no plastic tape. Instead there is a grey square over a gold circle. Is this grey stuff the thermal interface material? Did anyone else get this processor and heatsink recently without the plastic tape? Or am I suppose to remove this grey stuff? If this heat sink was suppose to come with plastic tape, should I return it for another. Please help!!!!

Yea its fine to use. They usually put plastic on the base to protect it in transport so it doesnt get scratched or oily from some greasy bastard handling them 😛
