Just wondering....I have a XP 1600+ right now, and I have a SV68 or whatever heatsink outfitting with a panaflo L1A 80mm....my 1600+ temps are in the low-mid 50's.....I was wondering if this cooling solution would be adequate for a 2500+ barton I'm getting...I'm not going to overclock...with the .13 build, I was thinking maybe the cooling WOULD work...any ideas? Thanks :) Gotta love the quiet cooling !

If those low-mid 50s temps are idle for that 1600+ then you may do yourself some good by upgrading the HS. To something like an SLK-800 and you could keep that fan, and make sure to get some good thermal stuff unless you already have some. AS3 or better.

My 2500+ Barton runs about 7 degrees C cooler than my older 1800+ Palomino on the same heatsink/fan combo (39C under load vice 46C on an Evercool CU 725). There were no other changes in the system to account for the difference in temps, so I have to assume that either the Barton runs cooler, or the increased surface area of the Barton transfers more heat to the heatsink.

tbred = cooler than palomino
barton i think is around the same as tbred

give it a shot
put paper thin layer of as2/as3 (if not thinner) and you should be ok

plus it runs at loewr voltage, so it would help
