Want something signed:

"Barry Sanders - For $109, he will sign something flat (a photo or poster, etc.) up to 11x14. For $139, he will sign a flat larger than 11x14, a mini-helmet or a football. For $159, he will sign a helmet, jersey or artwork.
If you want an inscription with your autograph, it's another $60 (up to 10 characters). "

"Billy Sims -- the other famous Lions running back who wore No. 20 -- will sign at 1 p.m. at the Trade Center in Mt. Clemens. His price: $7 for any item. "

The old guy could prolly still play too!!! I know that they head office/coaching staff were into getting high. Too bad for them. Too bad for him. Lions haven't been contenders in sooo many years. According to tradition, they are my team but hey, I stopped watching football years ago. I guesss it was about the time I got broadband.

Sanders writes: "I was risking my neck, and I had watched two of my teammates go down with spinal cord injuries, for some bean-counter who really isn't committed to winning?"

If he came back, would he have to play for the Lions?

It would suck to be a really good athlete and have to play for a bad team.

Man, I really miss Sanders. I wish I was older during his career so I could truly appreciate what he was doing. (BTW, if anyone knows of any Barry Sanders highlight tapes or dvds, let me know).

You can't possibly blame him for retiring. The Lions have proven to be a useless organization. Like Barry said, they were 1 fvcking win from the super bowl. Alls they had to do was take one more step. Hell, they could've taken two steps forward and one step back and still would've gotten there. But instead they put their tails between their legs and ran as far away from the playoffs as possible. Barry was a class act. He always came to play even when his team wasn't so good. It's sad to see a player get burnt out over a pathetic upper management. He had many good years left and was committed to winning. It's a shame his team wasn't.

Barry was/is the best, it was a sad day for football when he left... but I'm glad he was able to leave on his own terms
