Barry Bonds hit in the head by a foul ball

Apparently during batting practice he was leaning on the batting cage and someone lined a foul ball right off his forehead. Just heard on the radio, no link yet.

Barry Bonds' eventful season took a strange twist today when the Giants left fielder was struck in the forehead by a foul ball during batting practice.

Although Bonds was stunned, he was declared uninjured after being examined fully and remained in the starting lineup for the series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Bonds was standing behind the batting cage next to Manager Felipe Alou when the incident occurred. Wearing a cap and not his batting helmet -- which players rarely use during batting practice -- Bonds was leaning on the railing of the cage, peering through the protective netting, when Kevin Frandsen foul-tipped a pitch that shot straight back. The ball didn't penetrate the loose netting, but the netting gave enough so that the ball hit Bonds.

Bonds jerked his head back and went into a crouch, holding his head in his hands. He was quickly attended to by trainer Stan Conte, who instructed him to lie on his back behind the batting cage.

Bonds stayed in this position for about five minutes. During this time, the tiny microphone he was wearing to provide sound for videotaping of his ``Bonds on Bonds'' documentary on ESPN, was removed.

Bonds was led to the clubhouse, where he was examined by the team's medical staff and Dr. Darin Rutherford, a local physician. After they checked Bonds and deemed him fit, he returned to batting practice and even hit a massive home run into the second deck in right field.

That's great.

Then there's the home run off the top of Jose Canseco's head when he was outfielder for Texas.

I can imagine it now. Itd be like the sammy sosa corked bat thing except instead of cork syringes would expload out of his head.
