Barracuda IV not getting detected????

HI ppl...i decided to transfer some files from my new pc to my old one with a cel433 and DFI 440ZX mobo...the problem is that the barracuda doesn't get detected and the computer hangs at bootup..in BIOS at the IDE HDD AUTO DETECTION page the pc hangs again when detecting the disk.......i tried manually entering the specs in the bios and it still doesn't get detected...help out pleeze
