interesting... one of the biggest bookstores doesnt offer a instore inventory feature from their online site.

Their competitor, Borders, does. And my book is there. Looks like i'm going there, even though B&N is 10 min closer (altho in opposite direction).

Wonder why B&N doesnt offer it?

You trust the online stuff anyway? I'd always call to make sure it's correct.

i wonder if it has to do with them being organized separately so that customers can avoid sales tax

Either of them use a netflix like engine where you can put the books you've read in and have more books recommended for you?

You can search for an item online, and see which stores are carrying said item based on your zip code.
