Barebones IBM T41?

The barebone laptop in questions is seen here:

I need to add battery, dvd drive, ram, hard drive, wifi mini-pci card for a total of around $1650.

Is this a good idea? Will be adding the laptop parts be easy?

That is an amazing price. Even lower than off IBM website with an Educational discount!! I bought my X31 striped and put in my own parts and OS. By the way, RAM, HDD, Wi-Fi cards are very easy to install. IBM site also has a video to show you how. The only thing is that the airbag technology is built into the HD, so if you buy your own, you won't have that protection. But a 7200RPM drive is 1/3 the cost compared to what IBm charges.
