Barack Obama is coming to campus

I'm wondering if it'll be worthwhile to wake up on a Saturday morning and go listen to the guy. While I hate all politicians equally, I think this guy may not be as bad as the others.

To go or not to go?

UPDATE: Ended up going to the rally. They expected around 15,000 people but some 20,000 showed up, making it his biggest rally ever.

He is an excellent public speaker. Even though most of what he said was similar to stuff he'd said earlier, the crowd loved it. I think his main advantage is that he comes across as more of a genuine guy than most politicians.

hopefully we get a barack scream like this soon 🙂 bring your camera!

LOL 🙂 Sorry, no scream. I did take pictures, haven't uploaded them, but you can see some photos on Flickr (from Obama's website):

Remember that it is open to the public but you have to be screened by has campaign before they let you in. You are supposed to contact them ahead of time.

That's a big load of bullsh!t and I have no idea how you came up with that. They were giving away free tickets online and at locations around Atlanta. People who didn't have tickets were let in anyway. They handed out the flags and the Obama '08 signs, but apart from that, you were free to bring in any sign you wanted.

He's got strike 1 from me for supporting Jackson and Sharpton on the Imus issue, but I can see why he may have been forced to politically and am willing to overlook it.

But I'd go see him.. why not?

i wouldn't want memories of the guy who put another republican in office.
he's popular now like the guy...that governor that screamed into his mic last election. damn i don't even remember his name.

Uh Howard Dean?

And let me put it to you this way: I'm about the farthest from Ann Coulter's base as is humanly possible and I still went to go see her. It'll probably be a great opportunity to hear someone like Barack... I would love to go see him.

I saw Howard Dean give a speech before the 2004 elections and it was one of the best I've seen.

He actually defended "the scream." He explained that the media used the feed from his mic, and not the actual sound from the speakers in the popular clips of the "incident." He said the audience was loudly cheering and he was trying to talk over them. The audience apparently didn't react odd at all because it wasn't as loud and weird coming from the speakers.

mind as well, even if you don't like him
it's always best to know everyone's stance and arguments, even if you hate them

unless you have much better things to do

1) Ask him what does he mean by a "black america"?
2) Ask him why he wanted Imus fired
3) Ask him why he attends a racist church
4) Ask his opinion on Sharpton/Jackson

Yes. Go. Get the truth out of him.

Oh, so he goes to your campus on a Saturday. I guess he finally learned not to show up on a college campus during the week when classes are being held after stopping by Tri-C a while back. Cockbite.

this guy is the most eloquent speaker amongst all the big name candidates so far. You should just go to hear him speak.

I would certainly go to see/hear him. Its not a vote for him, but an opportunity to be better informed when you do vote.

I would certainly go! Kind of a nice change from your everyday politician.

For some reason, I really like the fact that he's a smoker (trying to quit). Even though I'm not a smoker myself, and hate the smell, it adds a bit of a human touch to him that's lacking in all other robotic politicians.
