Exactly. The president is becoming all too predictable here. However, maybe his strategy is to get the bulk passed and then work out the details later through amendments which I have to admit is smart (even though I don't agree and it's not how legislation was intended to be passed). If you want to get something passed, what's the best way to do it quickly? Overwhelm them with time constraints, bulky paperwork, and remind them to vote along party lines.

Criticism like this would be easier to understand were it not coming from those who ardently defended eight years of unabashed flip-flopping and abject deceit. Obama seems to care more about compromise than his predecessors, and given that some important context has shattered many of the other flamejobs his critics have leveled at him, I'm inclined not to believe the sentiments of those partisan few who still seem to be suffering from amnesia.

The GOP will be a better, more viable party if those in it can bring themselves to hold their own to the same level of scrutiny they hold others. If you give Bush and McCain a pass on a mountain of questionable behavior and statements, you look like a real partisan hack when a context-lacking story like this causes fits of indignation and circles jerks of scorn.
