Bantam has recently been acquired by GPX consumer electronics. However the unit is reportedly new, and has 90 day (manufacturer's?) warranty. According to several of the online reviews I read about the Bantam BA800 (which premiered about 2 years ago at $300!), the sound is reportedly good, but the earbuds that it comes with are trash. The TFT screen's image quality is supposedly great, but could be prone to interference & banding from nearby electronics. You can get about 11 hours of playtime from a full charge on the internal battery, and the firmware is upgradable, for future format compatibility. With the "CooLights" feature, the sides of the BA800 can display up to 256 colors. You can choose from solid hues or pulsating lights that are synchronized to the music. However, a glowing MP3 player reportedly "gets old faster than you'd think". The lights are also a battery drain. The other criticism of this unit was its overall size & (oval) shape. It is a little longer and wider than a pack of cigarettes, but is almost twice as thick, and can reportedly only fit in a large pocket, or inside a backpack. 3.5 x 2.8 x 1.6-inches (H x W x D )
From the Rebate Form I downloaded:
