I recently purchased a new iiyama i90a 19" monitor. The monitor has so far performed well, except for the sharpness of text. In the center of the screen, text is reasonably sharp. At the edges (the outer 20%), text is noticably blurry. I am running at the recommended 1280 x 1024 @ 85Hz; 1600 x 1200 is not usable. Also, BNC connectors on the monitor are being used.
I have done everything I can think of to try to increase the sharpness and am coming to the conclusion that my old Diamond banshee with the 250 RAMDAC may be to blame. My question is, will upgrading to a new video card, specifically a Radeon 32 DDR, improve text sharpness noticably? It is my assumption that the skewed greater text sharpness towards the center is more a function of the monitor than the video card. Is this a correct assumption? I am hoping, however, that a new video card may help improve sharpness across the whole display to the point that the blurry edges become less apparent. Let me know what you all think. Thanks in advance for any input.
