Banning P4 debates draconian?

at the head of the cpu processors and overclocking forum I see a warning from some moderator saying he has had it with p4 v amd "trolling". may I ask why this particular debate should actually bother him? his complaint looks like he is bored of looking at P4 debates. will someone please explain what harm the childish absurdity of people like timelord was really doing? (yep, I noticed timelord too!) I don't think threatening banishment on people was very reasonable; how will people who talk about the P4 at all feel safe now?

(not that I give a fig for the P4 LOL it's just the principle)

If you guys want to go fight, take it some place else

constantly babysit a bunch of children bickering, swearing and
flaming each other

It creates unecessary hostility between forum members. People flame. It leads to other things getting out of control. Those who try to learn from these arguments are often stupider for having read them. Ad nausem

arent the AMD vs Intel wars how this Forum makes its money? I mean think of all the lost page views if no one around here ever argued, sheesh.

umm... you do realize that it is possible to discuss CPUs without "flaming" people, don't you? The mods simply don't want theses "flame wars" going on... I'm sure you are still allowed to talk about processors if you like.

The mod's contributions are invaluable. If you've ever witnessed a once enjoyable forum or bbs go under because the Bad Seeds disrupt or crap in the majority of threads you'll understand. Posting is a priviledge, anonymity often clashes with civility and the mods exist to keep the place clean. I'd rather be in a clean place than a dirty one, wouldn't you?

im all for it.....most cases it ends up into a personal flame war and it doesnt contribute to the debate at all.

Yeah, when AMD first brought the K6 out, Tom's Hardware BBS turned into a real sh!thole with all the zealots flaming each other.
