Does anybody else feel that the failure of banner ads is because the advertizers aren't focusing right?

I mean here I am at a computer website looking at an ad for a home loan. Maybe if that were a banner ad for a place selling CD-r media I might click on it, or maybe even video cards. Most people don't spend that much on computers to warrent a home loan so why advertize that here?

Banner Ads are the worst thing forced upon users of the internet. We're bombarded by advertising constantly so why would we go home and click on banner ads more? The companies do have target audiences but that won't stop them from putting their ads all over the place...hence why you see them in odd places. Now, there's that talk of using cell phones for advertising/cupons...ARGH!!

I don't even look at the ads anymore. I wish they would just go away.

Advertising is a rotten profession.
