Chevy 454 engines are bad for exaust manifold leaks and i have one. some other RV owners highly suggested that i spend a few extra bucks and put on a banks exhaust system. so i got a quote on a kit today and going to think about it. the kit cost $2200.00

the extra torque and HP is very tasty along with getting rid of that exhaust leak.

First off, it includes a K&N filter, run, don't walk from K&N filters unless you like extra dirt with your air...

Buy some quality headers and have a muffler shop bend you up a nice system instead.

$2200 for an exhaust system is absolutely absurd unless it's made from titanium. Headers are very easy to install on full size vehicles. Buy a set from Jegs and do it yourself in an afternoon. Pair that with a magnaflow muffler and some various piping bits, and you're good to go.

As others have said, grab a set of headers and either install them yourself or pay a shop to do it. Then, get a shop to bend the rest of it for you. It should cost you AT MOST a third of what you're looking to pay now, unless you go with something fully stainless. Even then, I can't imagine it being that pricey.

Meh. Nothing wrong with the kit - Banks does a decent amount of testing to make sure all of the parts work well together. Piecing your own together will be a PITA, if you have the spare $$$, It's not a bad investment.

Banks systems are nice and do perform well, but for the price you can do the same yourself for less. I would suggest like others have already said. Buy headers and have a shop nearby do a custom exhaust. Grag a Cold Air kit online and you will come out at half the price than that kit. The kit looks like a header kit, exhaust, K&N Filter and O2 sensors. It does not make any mention of Computer Tuning for the upgrades that I could find.

i just called around and got directed to a custom muffler shop and talked to them and told them what i was wanting to do. they said banks is a good system and they have a very similar system that does just as well as banks but not nearly the cost. so ill take my rig down next sat and see what they can do for me.
