Yeah, I realize it's my fault, but damnit! I made a deposit(a check) on 4/24. Of course it doesen't clear today, and I overdraw and get charged a 33$ OD fee. Actually, where I faulted was that I didn't check my balance on 4/24 and didn't realize that the below had finally been charged. I thought I still had ~50$ in there.

:frown:

05/25/04 OVERDRAFT FEE $33.00
05/25/04 AMSOIL INC SUPERIOR $26.95 (pending)
05/25/04 BRANCH DEPOSIT $803.00 (pending) +
05/24/04 CHECK CRD PURCHASE 05/21 FRED-MEYER #0153 SFJ PORTLAND OR $5.12
05/24/04 CHECK CRD PURCHASE 05/21 7-ELEVEN STORE 20060 PORTLAND OR $7.20
05/24/04 CHECK CRD PURCHASE 05/20 GI JOES 8 PORTLAND OR $12.98
05/24/04 CHECK CRD PURCHASE 05/21 ENM COMPANY CHICAGO IL $66.00 <---- GAH!

I placed that order over a month ago.

That's a lot, perhaps you should look into a Credit Union, I believe their NSF fees are typically lower.
Heh.. Hmm..

At least they don't charge you 33$ every day. It's 33$ for the first day, and then 5$ for each aditional day up to like 15 or something, and then they lock your account, lol.

Not sure I would like a CU. What about ATM availability?

I heard bounced checks hurt your credit report.
It wasn't a bounced check, I don't use checks.. lol

Negatory on that, though. I think banks do keep track of it somehow, but it doesen't effect your credit score.. at least that I know of.

Maybe if it somehow goes to collections, but.

Have you tried calling them to have it reduced? Considering your position, they might let it slide.
I will, but almost exactly the same thing happened like a year ago, and they said that they couldn't help me. Probably depends on the customer service rep you get, heh.

yeah, I got this last month.

05/14/04 FINANCE CHARGE $0.05
05/04/04 CASH ADVANCE TRANSACTION*FINANCE CHARGE* $10.00
05/04/04 OVERDRAFT TO XXXXXX < $6.95

I have absolutely NO idea what those charges are for.

The thing is, once you used your check card as a "Master Card or Visa" and they put the funds on hold, they are guaranteeing those funds to that merchant. So even though you don't have enough when they present the draft for the funds to be removed, they put you overdrawn anyhow. Best bet is to balance your check book, jot down every single transaction you make.

last time that happened to me they wanted $25 a day on top of the OD fee, i told them i was told by one of there tellers i had overdraft protection (charge my cc when i bounce) and they bought it 🙂

That happened to me in March. My one account is a checking account and I forgot all about it. I use it to pay for my life insurance as they debit it every month. Well with moving and work and all, I forgot about it and got a call from the bank that I had an over draft. No big deal I will just deposit some money and pay any service charges.

Holy moley! I was $300 over drawn. I was like what the hell? I asked why they didn't notify me earlier before it got that large. I have no overdraft protection. That pissed me off. So I paid everything and put and extra $100 in the account. Now I check it every month. LOL.

I remember once my bank charged me an overdraft fee twice...once because supposedly a check I had written was cashed before the deposit I made went through (it didn't), and again because my account was now negative, making it, you know, overdrawn.

I called them up and they cancelled both fees. Kind of funny though.
