The new design of 5-pound note launched amongst a barrage of publicity last Tuesday, is being recalled due to problems with the serial numbers. Link

Insurance broker Steve Hedges, 24, of Formby, Liverpool, told the Daily Mirror the [serial] number wiped off in his hands.
He said: "At first the number smudged, then it vanished. There was no ink left on my hands."

The new note was introduced to enhance security - it features a hologram represenation of a £5, a woven platinum strip, security inks, and special security markings visible only under UV light.

How do you screw up that much?😱 I could see the numbers already being smeared comming off the printing press, but for anyone not to notice that the serial numbers wiped right off when you touched them?
