bank of america screwed me (kinda)

okay, so i got this secured credit card last year in may. It has an annual fee and all so i decided that i should cancel it. called them in april and wanted to have it cancelled and the lady said that i should keep the card instead since they'll review my account and make it unsecure since my account is in good standings and it should be graudated.

so yeah, now my card is still not an unsecured card and they're charging me the annual fee again. I'm going to call BOFA tomorrow and see what i can do about it... but isn't this deception on their part?

Shoulda cancelled it when you tried.

Next time don't fall for this unless they change it on the spot. 😉

It's very rare that a bank will change the collateral (going from secured to unsecured). I've always seen customers re-apply. If they qualify for an unsecured product, then the secured cc is closed and the collateral is unfrozen.

I don't suppose you followed common sense and wrote down the date, time and CSR's name?
