The reason he gets caught is because of a MAC address that pointed to a company owned machine - if he was really smart, he would have gotten into the router and spoofed the MAC address of one of the neighbor's machines.

Really?

Oh and yes just another reason for shoring up those loose WAP's folks. MPAA/RIAA won't give a sh!t if someone uses your insecure connection to share/download crap. They'll serve you and you will have to spend your hard earned coin to defend this.

It's amazing how many folks just unpack, plug in and play with this stuff. You know what's going to happen don't you? Wireless networking stuff is going to be DISABLED out of the box forcing the purchaser to run the wizard off the CD to configure it securely. Probably not a bad idea but I hate wizards.

That's how wireless routers were shipped when they first came out - with security enabled. But people had a lot of trouble getting it to work, so they changed.

Sure but with WEP it wasn't very secure so...

They will DUMB it all up like MS has done with their useless security center I'm sure. You know with the advent of all this silly stuff (DRM for example) I just figured it was time to play with boats and airplanes and such but damn you just cannot avoid the computer where ever the hell you go. We're all trapped like fvcking rats.
