Bank gives me $100 for overdrafting

I had $17 in my account, and I wrote a check for $25. I remembered I had $32, but I was wrong. This happened on 11/2. Now I just checked my account, I see my balance with down to -$8, and then on the same day, I see another entry Cash Transfer, with $100 credit, with my new balance of $92.

So where did the $100 come from? 😕

I wouldn't be surprised if the $100 got taken back in a few days. This kind of thing actually happens a lot. A friend of mine magically had 3k in his account, but it disappeared in two days.

I think I had $60, then it was gone the same day..

What if I transferred the money to my savings account?
Oh and they didn't charge me the $16 for overdraft 😕
So did I get lucky? 🙂

My bank account has overdraft protection to a credit card tied to the account. Maybe you have something similar and it hits the credit card in $100 increments?

Why would it say Cash transfer if it was really credit transfer? I don't have a credit card on that account. I just applied though, and haven't received it yet.
The $100 has been there for 3 business days already 🙂

A friend of mine had $110 in his savings account, the bank got bought out by another bank, and the next week he had $1100 in his account. They never took it back or noticed the mistake.

Damn I'd piss my pants if that happened to me.

More than likely overdraft protection. Many work in increments of 20, 50, or 100. I swear some of you are so retarded that I fear for the human race. OMG, how do I use a credit card? OMG.

My bank is really cool. The one time I overdrafted, they called me to tell me to deposit $3 into my account to save $20. Nice people.

Your best bet is to call them and let them know. If it's overdraft protection, then they will feel good about you since you were honest about the 'possible error'. Banks LOVE you when you are honest about errors. We once recieved $100 extra when making a large withdrawl. We returned the money an hour later and the lady was incredibly happy we came back. They gave us gift certificates and thank you letters in the mail.

Especially if they let you keep a tire iron behind the counter.

"Uhhh, can I cash this out an' keep it so you can't make me pay it back, huh?"

Wham! SPLATTER!
