Is it possible to transer the name on a bank check without going to the bank? If not, what can i do to switch the name?

Have the original check voided out and then reissued to the different payee.

OK, if my gf wrote a check on monday, and i wire money on monday, will the account get my money by the time the check is cashed and cleared?

Oh, me and my gf are trying to get an apartment, but the checks i had are for teh previous landlord. Since I didn't get the apt, they gave me back the check. So all i have now are these checks for the wrong people. Well Yesterday, we found another apt, but i couldn't get the checks redone b/c the banks were closed after we saw the apt. My gf and I want to get the landlords office right when they open (which is before the banks open). The problem is, i ran out of regular checks and my gf does not have enough to cover the fee, first month, blah, blah.....so i want to wire her the remaining amount to her account so she has enough.

I read that twice and I still don't understand what you're talking about.😕

Paypal works through ACH. ACH is NOT a wire transfer, and may take several days to occur. If you're trying to move money between accounts at the same bank, you're probably better off directly calling the bank, and asking for a live transfer. Try to avoid talking to a Teller, and go straight to Operations/Bookkeeping.

Assuming that your GF is not an authorized signer on your account, prepare to jump through some ID verification hoops to get this done.

Why cant you just go to a money mart and ask for a money order? Wouldnt that be easier?

Also, you could take money out of your account via atm and then give the money to your gf and have her deposit the money at the bank tomorrow. As long as the money is in there before the landlord tries to cash the check 🙂 Assuming that she goes first thing after she writes the check.

Why dont you get your GF to write the check monday morning, then goto your bank and withdraw the cash and give it to her?
