Im with a local bank thats not that big. Im forced to do all my withdraws at the bank or at grocery stores or where ever cash back is permitted.

I just moved to a new area with BofA is easily accessible. Will closing the old account, and opening up a new one hurt me?

No, switching banks is fine.

Switching banks will never hurt.... as long as an account isn't overdrawn.
