Bank Account Pins

Anyone else think that the standard 4 pin combination used by banks for ATM/Debit cards is weak!

With all the Identity theft, i think it should be increased.

Some people can barely remember their phone numbers.

But yah, 4-digit PIN aren't really that secure anymore, IMHO. I think they should make it 128-bit strong encryption with the passwords that are surgically placed under our pointer fingers. That way, we just touch a "Begin" button and it'll recognize who we are. 😉

My vulnerability analysis professor thought 4-digit pins were a relic until he asked how many of us were "still" using them and 90% of the class raised their hands. Yes, they are too weak. No, it won't change as long as people are lazy and/or feel secure.

# of digits isn't that big an issue -- entering a code at the ATM will always be weak.

It isn't that hard to tell what # most people are punching in from 5-10 yards back.

I'd be much more worried of someone stealing your cc where no pin is needed..

Only 4 numbers? Your bank sucks. My ATM pin # is 1111111.
