*bangs head on wall* No public custom games in Halo 3

He's referring to the fact that there will be no public server list to select from.

However there are going to be more options in picking custom games than in Halo 2. I remember hearing that you can basically pick a few criteria and select search, and it will return a list of games as such. But I don't remember where I read that, and I know it wasn't officially confirmed by Bungie either.

I read just a few months ago they were in, but now they arenot because
it would take people away from matchmaking...well duh people would rather make their own.

Hell, that's a good thing! Everybody, including myself, griped when we found out Halo 2 was going to be using this new party system and not a server list. After using it, though, it's greatly superior. I don't understand why you'd want the hassle of looking through a list of servers. Set up the parameters of what you want to play, and let the system match you with other people looking for the same gameplay and good ping.

The only time a public server list is ideal is when a game becomes older, and very few people actively play. Shouldn't be a problem with Halo 3 for a few years, since hundreds of thousands of people still play on a daily basis 3 years after it's release.

Ya, I really do think Matchmaking is usually superior. The only gripe I have is you can't play some of the more creative game types.

If Halo 2 would have only had a public server list there would have been next to no cheating.

I pray to god they make the ranks invisible this time around, but I doubt it.

Um, ranks weren't invisible in the beta. Why would they be invisible?

because that would stop the cheaters.........how?

halo 2 has one of the best matchmaking and party systems out there, if not the flat out best. i'll take that over lists and whatever else any day.

Ya, this was my issue with it. That plus I wanted to be able to play nothing but CTF games back to back. You can't do that with their matchmaking game types.
