Bang for my buck.

I'm looking for a stable and cheap motherboard - Socket A, DDR, no RAID or anything. I'm also looking for some cheap ram that can clock pretty good. I'm not looking for a godly overclock, but something away from the 136mhz my crappy setup can push out. Also, AGP 8x would be nice.

I've tried researching for some good boards and ram, but besides RAM, it seems alot of the things I see good marks for, turns out to be subpar to something cheaper :/

Thanks in advance 🙂

search "500" for a bunch of budget threads, which of course use AMD XPs

(need more? try "budget", there have been scores of threads this year.)

Also, what is the deal with Athlon XP mobile CPUs? How are they better than a standard XP? Will I get more performance from a mobile vs. standard XP if the mobile is clocked to the same speed as the standard XP?

Does it support Athlon XP mobile CPUs? Since I can't drop alot on water cooling, it seems mobiles would be a better oc choice due to their low vcore/lower temperture, but I may be wrong. 😛

Yep.. Same pin set, same socket...

I was gonna ditch this 2.4 for a mobile 2500+ but it's just not worth it ..

AXP-M is a Barton core chip. As for O/Cability because they are are essentially the cream of the crop, they can run at lower Vcore. Cream of the crop - super overclock on factuory unlocked chips. Factory unlocked since they need to dynamically change speed for mobile applications.

thanks for the replies/recommendation/explanation 🙂

another question :x - would it be better to get a 35w chip or 45w chip? the 45w being 1.83ghz vs. the 35w 1.8ghz.
