I am looking for an MP3 player, the Nano is nice but a bit bigger than she wants. She wants to be able to see songs which kills the Shuffle.

4GB would be good, but less memory vs size is ok too.

I was looking at the red model for $49 already, it's a 4GB one though.

Anything 'better' but more bang for buck?

BestBuy had it for $39 and down the street from my office 1 min...it's already wrapped and waiting for her.

it has a micro sd expansion slot. which is pretty good if u share it with someone and/or have different tastes of music every once in a while.

i have the blue one and use it and leave it at work. i dl different music to the sd card every once in a while

The SD slot was a big seller. We have a lot of microSDs just laying around...she can create mood-based media to just pop in and go.

depends how smart it is with the sd slot, i remember some creative players that would keep the two libraries separate, bit of a mess.

I bought one of the little Sony Walkmans (B series - http://www.sony.co.uk/product/nws-b-series ) as a friend's Christmas present, and was really surprised at how good it was. Sony's evil software is all gone, it's all drag/drop storage device stuff now, just folders and MP3s. Sync with Media Player, or just copy/paste folders. Sound quality seems great, charges in a few minutes via built-in USB plug, and runs for hours.
