Bandwidth Issues with my DSL and router..

I got a netgear gateway router rt314, and My dad and I both are hooked up to the thing, but when he downloads he goes soooo fast that i barely have any bandwidth... if i get on counter-strike i get a ping of around 500 and without him downloading i am getting 40-80 depending on server... soo is there anyway to split the connection, or limit the amount of bandwidth one port on the router can get... thanks..

that sounds really odd... my linksys has never had the problems you described... it splits the bandwidth up between all computers...

MetalWires: I am just running into the same problem.
Are there any windows 2000 programmers here, that know if 2000 has build-in functions to monitor/manage the PC BW consumption?
If so it would be fairly easy to write a program that will talk with other LAN PCs and divide the BW smarter (and no one will get chocked).

And if I thoght about it then someone probably wrote it, so where should I look for such a program?

Does the netgear gateway router rt314 have any QoS features built in? If so, may want to check them.
