I goto one of the many universities that seem to be restricting bandwidth. Boo, no more unlimited speed for us. I wouldn't be complaining if our speed was consistantly around cable or DSL speed but our speed is pretty slow. There is lot of lag and things like Kazaa crawl, 2k is about the average speed. Any idea or proggies to get around this, or help alieviate it?

Is your upload AND download both capped @ 2 k/s? What university is it? Many smaller universities only have like a T1 or T3 to share amongst all its students and that's why you see speeds like that.

If it's their slow connection, there's no way around it. If they are capping you, unless somehow they're very stupid (doubtful), there's usually no way around it :( If somebody finds a way, let me know though. ;)

I bet your bandwidth is really high but it's just that a whole bunch of people are using Kazaa and stuff which kills the connection. No matter how big your pipe is, if it's shared and there's people running file sharing apps, all the bandwidth is going to be taken.

Sorry, i don't support you stealing or circumventing bandwidth restrictions. If you don't like it, get a dialup line, its much faster than 2k. If that doesn't work, order cable or DLS to your dorm.
